NY State Highways and Interstates through Orange County
New York

Located just 60 miles north of New York City, Orange County New York is the “Crossroads of the Northeast” because of the three major state highways and interstates that traverse the county. Business development specialists agree that this highway system is a major factor in the decision to locate a business in the county.

New York State Highways

New York State Route I-86 is an east-west state highway that dissects the county from its Rockland County to Sullivan County borders.

  • Interstate 84 extends from the Scranton area of Pennsylvania, through Orange County, to the Massachusetts Turnpike which crosses the state.
  • Interstate I-87, the New York State Thruway, is the longest intrastate/interstate highway in the Interstate Highway System.  To the south, it originates in the Bronx, NY and ends in the north at the Canadian border.

Both I-84 and I-87 are accessible to Stewart International Airport and serve the twenty-six corporate parks developing business in Orange County.
